Abstract submission
IDRC Chengdu 2009 China will publish a proceeding to help conference participants and all people who concerned the development of the dialogue of disaster prevention and reduction, to share in disaster management experiences and products of the international society, tand o promote contact between participants. This proceeding will be indexed by ISTP. The IDRC Chengdu 2009 China welcomes the abstracts and papers relating to the conference topics from experts and scholars in different disciplines. Accepted abstracts will serve as the basis for conference presentations, and the resulting papers will be published in the conference proceedings.
• Abstract Contents
Prospective authors may submit an abstract for review by the Scientific Committee. Abstracts which do not adhere to the following requirements will not be considered. The content of the abstract should include (1) Presentation of the project/topic and analysis of the issue(s), (2) Presentation of the results/findings, (3) Conclusion and recommendations.
In addition, the abstract should include the following 6 parts:
1. Indicate whether you are submitting a paper for presentation;
2. Indicate which topic the abstract is related to (see Description of Conference Topics and Themes);
3. The title of the abstract;
4. The name(s), nationality and address (es) of the author(s) (post address and e-mail address);
5. Five key words;
6. A biography of no more than 750 characters including blank spaces (about 100 words) of the author(s) in the other Microsoft Word file.
• Abstract Formatting
1. The abstract itself should be text only (no graphics) and contain 300 to 500 words written in English including blank spaces (max. 1 A4 page);
2. The format of the words is Times New Roman and the font size is five;
3. Left and right margin length is 1.5 cm; top and below margin length is 1.0 cm.
• Abstract Submission Method
–The abstract could be submitted via e-mail to the Conference Secretariat email address: idrc[at]hit.edu.cn. Please make sure you include only two files, preferably in Microsoft Word: 1) the abstract and 2) the 750-character biography of author(s).
–The abstract could also be submitted via fax to 0086-451-86402306.
• Abstract Select Criteria
In general, abstracts of topics for oral presentation and posters will be accepted on the basis of their relevance as well as their scientific quality. In particular, the Scientific Committee will select the abstracts according to the following criteria:

Relevance of proposed paper/poster to the overall purpose and scope and to the specific session theme;

Scientific quality and originality of the treatment of the subject;

The extent to which the paper generates new ideas and concepts, fresh thinking in terms of conceptual developments and scrutiny of established principles;
The Scientific Committee welcomes concrete examples and results from projects and policy that illustrate effective strategies and solutions. Acceptance of papers and posters will be confirmed by email or fax.

Due to the large number of participants, the academic committee of IDRC Chengdu 2009 decides not to accept new abstracts from June 23rd, 2009 !
Meanwhile, we hope the participants who had submitted the abstract could submit your full paper before June 30, 2009.
